Of the Atrocities of Communism

04.09.04

I received a letter from a college student in Richardson, Texas just now. I am gonna post her letter, and follow up with my response.

NAME: Suzie

CITY: Richardson

STATE: TX

MESSAGE:

Hi, I’m a college student and am writing a report over the Vietnam war. I’ve read in my history book, in encyclopedias, and heard from my grandfather, who is a Vietnam veteran, that the American soldiers were doing some pretty uncivilized things. Such as desecrating the bodies that they killed, raping Vietnamese women, and anything else terrible that you could imagine.

I believe you are trying to criticize John Kerry with this video that you made, “Hanoi Kerry.” This is where my confusion sets in. The video says something about him claiming that all this raping and killing of civilians went on in Vietnam. So, if this video is Anti-Kerry, then when you quote him, are you saying that he was lying? I am very confused. Because all I’ve heard about Vietnam was that it was a horrible mess and that a lot of soldiers did some pretty bad things (for example, the My
Lai massacre) and that Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon kept us in the war for corrupt, politcal reasons - that it was about not looking soft to the Soviets and about American imperialism. So, I’m confused about your video. It almost seemed to me that you were saying that Kerry was immoral for protesting an immoral war that should’ve never happened. Why is someone
wrong for protesting something in which men can kill a whole villiage of civilians and not be punished? Why is someone wrong for protesting something that is futile and destructive to everyone involved?

Sure, we were fighting communism, but the communist leader, Ho Chi Minh was not a repressive leader. And that doesn’t make me communist to not hate him. It doesn’t make me communist to not think communism is evil and it doesn’t mean I am against America. I completely agree with the ideal of democracy and capitalism, but I don’t think the opposite is evil. What is wrong with not hating people and not wanting war? Will you please help me straighten out my confusion? - explain the details of the video.

Hi Suzie,

I will undoubtedly agree with you that there were incidents of such atrocities committed by American soldiers during Nam. And as much as I am against such behavior, this video’s main focus is on the damage that Kerry did to people like your grandfather who served in the war. Kerry was first in line to ridicule him, call him a baby killer, spit on him, and do
anything in his power to discourage or belittle returning veterans. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but was your grandfather any of those? I have a strong feeling that he wasn’t, nor would he even think of doing such things. Our country was at a difficult time, and it sure didn’t help to have liars like Kerry making things worse. Kerry may have exercised his “free speech”, but it was a low blow, full of dishonesty, belittling to courageous veterans, and giving an overall damaging view of the good of the American way. In a time when communists wanted to make every one “the same”, not only is this destructive, but has been proven by over 100 million deaths, that it doesn’t work.

No other country in the world has sent out so many of its men to fight for another country’s freedom as the USA has. You may not think that communism is bad, but the results are in, and people like Kim Jong Il, Castro, Stalin, Pol Pot, and many many others have led to the slaughter thousands upon millions of innocent, unarmed*, citizens. You should do some research as to the atrocities that are currently taking place in North Korea as we speak. Nothing different than what the Nazi’s did to their victims.

Kerry lied about throwing his “earned” medals over the Whitehouse gate. Turns out he threw someone else’s, and that’s why his medals are displayed on his desk today. What happened to his standpoint now? Seems to me, and any other person with common sense, that Kerry just flip flopped on his standpoint. Kerry is not to be trusted in such a powerful place as President
of the US. You’ll probably respond with everything George W. Bush ever did wrong, and I expect you to. I’m sure that Bush has told his lies too, I personally don’t trust any politician. Some call it choosing the lesser of two evils. But George W. Bush has the bad guys on the run, and that is why I will give him my vote. I know for a fact if any terrorist had the choice, they would vote for Kerry. ” All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. ” -Edmund Burke

I guess my main point, Suzie, is that even “if” our boys (18-21) over in Nam did some pretty bad things, it doesn’t even come close to comparison of what these communist countries have brought upon their own citizens. You may be not against communism, but I’ll tell you right now, the thousand and thousands who are used as human guinea pigs for testing biological and chemical agents will disagree with you.

“All of North Korea is a gulag,” said one senior U.S. official, noting that as many as 2 million people have died of starvation while Kim has amassed the world’s largest collection of Daffy Duck cartoons. “It’s just that these people [in the camps] are treated the worst. No one knows for sure how many people are in the camps, but 200,000 is consistent with our best
guess. -MSNBC

I would say that we should go in there and save these poor souls from such an awful existence. But college professors, who were hippy’s during the war, have planted a seed in many a university. Weaving a web of pro-communist ideals, these professors are fulfilling their “agenda’s”. Telling their students “Communism is actually good!”.

Because of these people, many many more innocents will die in a miserable, violent, unimaginable way. Next time you are enjoying the comfort of your home, give a thought and a prayer to these people. We must do our best to prevent communism from spreading its evil across the globe. Many a soldier died in Nam, but I tell you, it was NOT in vain. Kerry told everyone that they all died in vain. I will never never support anything Kerry stands for, and I will always stand against communism and it’s supporters.

God Bless
