Weapons Wish List: Barrett M468 6.8mm

This here new caliber was put together by Remington and the military quite recently. Now Barret Firearms has a pretty sweet lookin rifle for it. This caliber is a halfway point between the .223 and the .308. They are lookin for a bullet that will do a bit more damage than the little .223. Sounds good to me!

    Finally, someone got smart and realized the 5.56 just doesnt do the job it should. 6.8 is a pretty mean bullet.

    barrett isnt the only one who is manufacturing the 6.8mm upper receiver. there are some out there more reasonable for around $500. The problem I see is that there is a limited amount of ammo right now. I bought a 6.8 mm upper and a .22lr upper one for business and one for plinking cheaply. Sold my m4 5.56 upper for what I paid for the new upper.

    I wrote Barrett and they stated the ammo was going to be $117 for 300 rounds,thats about .39 cents a round and that doesn’t seem real expensive to me. If you want to read about the Barret. Guns and weapons for Law Enforcement did a nice three page article on it in the Feb issue.

    Dang… .39 cents a round. sheesh. I thought that 5.56 at 20 cents a round was a bit high. Im just poor white trash i guess.

    I SOLD MY 6.8MM DPMS AND PURCHASED A BARRETT. I SEE VERY LITTLE DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE. I INDEED ENJOY THE LETHALITY OF THE 6.8. I ALSO HAVE NOTICED A INCREASED CHAT ABOUT THE NEW ROUND, AS WELL AS DECREASE IN AMMO PRICE. I JUMPED INTO A 6.8MM AND DO NOT REGRET IT…BUT I STILL KEEP A 5.56MM AND A 7.62MM WITHIN REACH. TRY HER YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
