Man Killed by Police

What did we learn from this?
When crazy tactical bobby’s with sniper rifles and all the bells and whistles tell you to “stop”. Don’t go.

What you obviously don’t know is that the “bobby’s” (misuse of apostrophe there) were plain clothed. Nor did they have sniper rifles.
So they were simply people pointing handguns at an innocent man. He ran away, like most people would. He was shot.
# July 24th, 2005 at 11:26 amtell you what pidge. I’ll point my .357 magnum at you and tell you to do something. When you refuse to do it, and get shot…. that makes you the friggin idiot.
If any cop ever told me to do something, in ANY country. You can bet yer ass I’m gonna do it, so as to not get shot. Especially after a bunch of their countrymen just got blown up. So, you know, they’re gonna be a little itchy on the trigger finger.
This shows you lack some serious common sense. Just like that brazilian.
# July 24th, 2005 at 12:49 pmI don’t understand your desire to demonize the man who got shot to death, Chad. Not everyone reacts to a gun being pointed at them in the same manner. That doesn’t mean they deserve to die for it. I just don’t see your angle on this one. He didn’t do anything wrong. He wasn’t a terrorist.
# July 24th, 2005 at 7:52 pmI don’t think I demonized the guy. I was just making an object lesson out of his poor decision. They guy wasn’t a terrorist.
He just wasn’t smart. And I’m saying, don’t let it happen to you.
# July 24th, 2005 at 7:59 pmIf he was innocent he shouldn’t have ran from the police. Those tactical bobby’s identified themselves in a public place. He was the dumb-crap that ran like he was guilty of something. He didn’t deserve death but can you see the rationale here? Tension is high and public cooperation is a must. It is a tough lesson for those Brits but maybe they will think twice about eluding police.
# July 24th, 2005 at 9:15 pmSeems pretty simple to me. SO19 Armed Cop says stop, you stop. There wasn’t that easy? OR SO19 Armed Cop says stop, you run in a Arab looking fashion from a suspected Terrorist house that been stacked-out into the nearest Tube Station and onto the Tube whilst wearing a heavy, bulky coat during a heat-wave on the day bombs are going off and a week after the last bombs went off.
No demonizing here, I think he’s a Prime candidate for a Darwin award.
It’s a terrible shame and feel sorry for his parents BUT put yourself in the Cops shoes, for all he knows the guy could have about to have gone BOOM and taken a great deal of innocent bystanders with him. Not smart, very sad, another victim of terrorism.
# July 24th, 2005 at 10:00 pmDidn’t I read somewhere he had a bunch of wires on his person? Hmmm… wasn’t he an electrician? Oh boy, unlucky much?
# July 24th, 2005 at 10:03 pmI agree that if a cop points a gun at you and tells you to freeze, you don’t run. I’m referring to the possibility I’ve heard that they didn’t identify themselves properly. If so, I understand why he took off.
# July 25th, 2005 at 6:36 amNah, even if thats true it’s freakin’ England not LA, Stockwell ain’t the nicest of neighborhoods but it isn’t South Central, you don’t get a gun pulled on you in broad daylight UNLESS you’ve got SERIOUS criminal connection issues or the Old Bill have a very SERIOUS reason to want to talk to you. I think there maybe more going on here than meets the eye.
# July 25th, 2005 at 8:58 pmDoes anyone know if the man spoke fluent english? he may have misunderstood the situation…
# August 8th, 2005 at 7:41 pmSo, as it turns out, he was NOT wearing a bulky jacket, he was NOT carrying a bag, police did NOT identify themselves, he did NOT run from police, he did NOT jump the turnstile, and he had already been restrained when he was shot.
