thanks for the pics, hows she shoot? how far away can you put small holes in the target with good accuracy? Hows she feed? any ammo perform best in her? c’mon tell use we want to know!
# September 6th, 2005 at 2:56 amThat dern XD is a sweet weapon but she isn’t much for accuracy over 25ft. I spect it’s due to the whole “sub-compact” 3 1/2 inch barrell deal. Oh well… it serves its purpose. I’m not usin’ it for sharp shootin’. Like Chad said over at 3G, the trigger is really nice. I think I still need to break er in a bit but for the most part she functions like a champ.
# September 6th, 2005 at 7:25 amoh yea… you can tell that there is an accuracy issue by just lookin at pic #4.
# September 6th, 2005 at 7:26 amLet me know how ya like it. I broke the ejector on mine after about 1000 rounds. Sent it back to Springfield and they fixed it for free. Now I only put 9 rounds in the mag.
Just my $ .02
# September 6th, 2005 at 6:28 pmThanks Woodster… I’ll keep ya posted. Also, what year and model XD?
# September 6th, 2005 at 6:31 pmI accidently called you Woodster instead of Woodser… sorry dude.
# September 6th, 2005 at 6:33 pmI have the 5′ longslide and love it. It is simple, comfortable and accurate. What we have here is a good Glock replacement.
# September 7th, 2005 at 1:39 amNice to see Springfield step-up and take Glock on, personally I’d take a Steyr M-A1 over a Glock.

Better picture…
# September 7th, 2005 at 6:39 pmI bought mine in 2003. I have the 4″ .40 cal.
I have taken a few classes at Frontsight ( http://www.frontsight.com ) with this pistol. I would have to say that this pistol was MADE for that type of tactical training. The first class I took in 03 I was the only XD in the class of Glocks. A few months ago, when I took the 4 day class, Frontsight is now renting XD’s and it was about a 50/50 mix.
I like the XD better than glock due to the mag release on both sides. I DO NOT have to break my grip to release the mag. LOVE THAT FEATURE!!!!
# September 9th, 2005 at 8:16 amthought the target in pic 4 was an old one that had seen a lot of use. does it have an ammo preferance?
# September 9th, 2005 at 4:34 pmBig bump for the XD, i plan on getting either the service model….I wish they made it in 10mm or …wait they make it 9mm…suitable.
# September 12th, 2005 at 1:18 amweaker, but I suppose its still suitable.
# September 12th, 2005 at 3:20 pmNo matter how you try and rationalize it…

# September 12th, 2005 at 5:35 pmI thought that wall paper would come up at some point in this post. But if 9mm is for women and pansies then why does the military use it.
# September 13th, 2005 at 2:44 pmpansy military procurment dept.
# September 13th, 2005 at 4:43 pmYou could also ask why they use a wee varmint round like the 5.56, too.
# September 13th, 2005 at 5:13 pmYa Ive been wondering why they use that round since I found out how small it was, at least use a 6.8!
# September 14th, 2005 at 4:53 amAmong other reasons, the military went to 9mm to get in line with our NATO allies and their ammo choices. You’ll note the fellas in the big sandy right now are clammoring for a more lethal round as 9mm hardball is not a very good stopper.
As for the XD, I’ve picked one up earlier this summer and nearly have 900 rounds through it now. Been totally reliable to this point, and I have yet to clean it, just to see how long it will go. And guys, you gotta work on that grip!
Take a look at the Texican Tattler tonight, I’ve posted a little primer for those of ya’ll still shooting Weaver style…
Regards,
# September 18th, 2005 at 6:32 pmthe fish
LOL, man Tex you got a stick up yer’ butt ’bout that aye? I hadn’t even noticed, come on guys, time to try out the modern isosceles stance.

# September 18th, 2005 at 8:44 pmI think if I was in the sandbox I might have to accidentally slip a few HP’s into my mags. I also noted certain Marine units have .45ACP Kimber 1911’s as their sidearms of choice… Hooah!
Screw NATO ammo choices, use somethin made to kill not wound, if you ask me we should bring back the good ‘ol BAR.
# September 19th, 2005 at 11:58 amHow on earth can you argue with NATO.There rounds are after all for HUMANE purposes:roll:!
# October 9th, 2005 at 6:23 amI have a 9mm and a 40mm XD-40 SpringField.
I also have an M6 Tactial / Laser and Flashlight and when I use the laser (after calibration) the accuracy is better than by eye-alone.
This is what it sorts of look like but less glam though:
