Geocaching
10.13.05Anyone here into geocaching? I know the Woodser is. I’ve recently got into it since I first got my GPS.
But I planted my first cache out in the woods along a hiking trail where Jonas and I do some hunting.

So for any local geocachers, here’s the official geocache page.

I had not heard of geo-caching before, so I followed the links from your post. Sounds like fun. Did you manage to plant your cache okay?
As far as GPS goes; I have a PDA with TomTom Naviagtor on and it’s awesome — so, so useful.
# October 13th, 2005 at 2:45 pmYea, it’s a blast! Just go to the geocache website, do a search for local caches in your area, and take a buddy to go find some.
Usually there’s only stupid stuff in em, but the fun is in the treasure hunt. My personal cache has awesome stuff in it.
To name a couple:
# October 13th, 2005 at 2:51 pmA belt buckle with an eagle on it.
A blaze orange hunter hat.
My buddy put the movie Anaconda in. hah.
I had a old knife I put in, but I had to remove it, cos it violates the geocache rules. Somebuddy might get hurt er somethin.
I’ve just had a look on the geo-caching website and there’s one or two caches in an area of London that I will be in at the weekend - I’m going to check it out. I used to love treasure hunts as a kid.
Did you hide your cache really well or is it kind of obvious where it is once you reach the co-ordinates?
Thanks for a really cool post.
# October 13th, 2005 at 3:02 pmIt’s actually hidden in a group of saplings, under some bark. It’s an old ammo can, but I think most folks could find it.
# October 13th, 2005 at 4:23 pmThat’s cool!
# October 13th, 2005 at 8:02 pmCRAP, I was supposed to give Jarrid the map for ya. Sorry.
E-mail me your snail mail addy.
# October 13th, 2005 at 9:56 pmI am a Geocacher myself. I even got myself a cache of my own! It’s a great family thing.
# October 14th, 2005 at 10:07 amAS - You got a link to your cache page?
# October 14th, 2005 at 10:27 amMan, that sounds freak’n cool…
# October 14th, 2005 at 11:32 amChad,
Yeah but it’s awfully far from your neck of the woods!
# October 14th, 2005 at 3:03 pmHere is a link ot my “Found” caches. I have not been Geocaching in awhile.
I should have warned ya Chad. If you look at my logs you will see some Geocaches that I found while in the Bahamas.
# October 15th, 2005 at 8:47 amJust got back from a few days in London… Found a couple of caches and had a blast
Thanks again for the post.
# October 16th, 2005 at 8:34 am[...] I took him up to French Gulch, where I had hidden a geocache last fall. It’s also the same area where I took my deer last season. It’s not too far out of town, yet it’s still out in the woods. I dedicated that Cache to him. Cos I know I’ll be up there again to check on him and the cache. [...]
