(Fairfax, VA) — The United States District Court for the Eastern District in Louisiana today sided with the National Rifle Association (NRA) and issued a restraining order to bar further gun confiscations from peaceable and law-abiding victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
“This is a significant victory for freedom and for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The court’s ruling is instant relief for the victims who now have an effective means of defending themselves from the robbers and rapists that seek to further exploit the remnants of their shattered lives,” said NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre.
Joining LaPierre in hailing the U.S. District Court decision was NRA chief lobbyist Chris W. Cox. “This is an important victory. But the battle is not over. The NRA will remedy state emergency statutes in all 50 states, if needed, to ensure that this injustice does not happen again.” Continue Reading »

The Volokh Conspiracy posted about this Harriet Miers and her feelings on the Second Ammendment (capitalized out of respect ).
The same liberties that ensure a free society make the innocent vulnerable to those who prevent rights and privileges and commit senseless and cruel acts. Those precious liberties include free speech, freedom to assemble, freedom of liberties, access to public places, the right to bear arms and freedom from constant surveillance. We are not willing to sacrifice these rights because of the acts of maniacs.
I don’t really know much about this woman… cept for what I hear on talk radio. And the talk hasn’t been completely nice. But she respects the individuals right to keep and to bare arms, and this is the number one point I was searching for.
All I hear is “Thank God she’s a woman!”… lah dee frickin’ dah.

On that note of keeping things fresh ’round here… I do realize I haven’t posted in awhile. So I’ll post on the movie dukes of hazzard. We have a discount theatre here that plays movies that have recently stopped playing, but haven’t come out on disc yet. So we went to see the Dukes again tonite.
I know, I know, alotta folks don’t care for it cos it makes a mockery of the good ol’ original. And it does, I’ll agree. But I still found the movie fun to watch. Especially since it was made by the same guys who made Super Troopers. That movie is a all time favorite of mine… makes me want to be a cop too, so I can do the repeater on folks.
Anyways, aside from the stupid doobie jokes, it’s pretty funny. Sean William Scott cracks me up everytime.
