The Hastert Protocol
12.04.05At last someone has heard our call
We, left behind, we left to fall.
Our views no longer meet the test
Of what is true and right and best.
Was good enough for our father founders,
But not for multicultural bounders,
Who snidely slide us to the side,
Who denigrate and sly deride,
Dismiss us who would celebrate,
Our beliefs, traditions on this date.So now we’re truly grateful all,
For Speaker Hastert’s Protocol.
Which says for those who truly see
That giant spruce as a Christmas tree.
Not a tree for some vague holiday,
But a tree that truly lights our way,
And signifies for us a season,
That makes us ponder, makes us reason,
And recognizes a spiritual nation,
With a founding Christian orientation. So Speaker Hastert speaks for me
When he says that is a Christmas Tree;
Not a tree for some vague holiday,
But a tree celebrates our Christian way;
A spirit we share ecumenically,
With Jews and Muslims totally,
And others who believe what ‘ere,
There’re beliefs enough for all to share.
We seek nothing more than God’s blessed life,
Sheltered from a world full of natural strife. So thanks, Mr. Speaker, for your bold call,
We say God bless you, one and all.Merry Christmas!

Thats what i call a good poem. But more importantly is the giant step that hastert took it was bold and im glad that he did. I hope that it will help rally other people in the house to not be afraid to stnad for christianity.
# December 5th, 2005 at 10:26 amAs a jew, I can say that nobody reasonable likes the bogus “Happy Holidays” or “Holiday Tree” stuff. same goes for them putting up a giant Hannukah menorah on the mall. Why:
1) America is a majority Christian country, and everybody knows that. Why should anyone object to a bit of public celebration? It’s not as if the senators are sacrificing goats on the Capitol steps… It would be ridiculous for the government of the world’s most powerful majority Christian country to ignore the most important (it is the most important right?) Christian holiday of the year. They’re not forcing anybody to pray or anything, so what’s the problem?
2)Hannukah is an extremely minor Jewish holiday. Until it was adopted as a sort of “Jewish christmas” very few people even acknowledged it regularly. It does not have equal status to Christmas, so there is no reason for it to get such a public build up.
This is one of those times when I totally agree with you guys that political correctness has gone too far. I don’t have a problem exchanging a “Merry Christmas” with people, or with a Christmas tree on the Mall (I can even stand hearing “White Christmas” 500 times when I do errands) and nobody else should either.

79% Christian
3% Jewish
1% Muslim
17% No-of-the-above and/or dirty commie b@statrds
I’m a Deist and I say… Merry Christmas!
It’s freakin’ CHRISTmas, with a CHRISTmas Tree, CHRISTmas cake, CHRISTmas Cheer AND it’s an official Government HOLYday. AND while I’m at it, it’s Under GOD, In GOD We Trust and GOD Bless America.
What the heck.. GOD save the Queen too.
# December 6th, 2005 at 3:25 amToo bad Hastert’s doesn’t speak for us when it comes to the Second Amendment:

Wow, David! I wish every gun owner in this country would write a letter like that to anti-gun politicians. That was freakin’ awesome, man.
