The Civil Rights movement was arguably the most important political and social change to occur in the US in a long time, and he was its most prominent leader. The advances of the civil rights movement without much help from "whitey", so don't try and imply that King only gets recognition because he's black. Also, this business of his wild extramarital affairs seems very trumped up to me. Edgar Hoover (who was no saint himself), and King had a "mutually antagonistic relationship." Sounds like the FBI was doing its level best to dig up dirt on King...
