Ray Nagin: Rascist Mayor
01.19.06NEW ORLEANS — Mayor Ray Nagin told a crowd gathered at City Hall for a Martin Luther King Day march that New Orleans will be “chocolate” again.
“We ask black people … It’s time for us to come together. It’s time for us to rebuild New Orleans _ the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans,” Nagin said Monday. “This city will be a majority African American city. It’s the way God wants it to be. You can’t have New Orleans no other way. It wouldn’t be New Orleans.”
The city was more than 60 percent black before Hurricane Katrina displaced about three-quarters of its population, but spared several predominantly white neighborhoods.

This mayor is as rascist as a klan member. There is no way that a “honky” could get up and say that his town needs to “stay vanilla, cos its the way God wants it to be.” This guy needs to be kicked out. Its pathetic he is even in there.
When he appolagized he said “I was refering to the black culture”. Which still doesnt count for anything, just like it woulden’t cut a white mayor slack for saying he was refering to “preserving the white culture”.

Mmm, chocolate.
# January 19th, 2006 at 4:46 pmHaha. You gotta read Ann Coulter’s aticle, too.
# January 19th, 2006 at 4:56 pmInteresting double-standard, isn’t it?
# January 19th, 2006 at 6:23 pmToday, Mayor Nagin appointed a Reese Cup and Kit Kat bar to the city council. Mayor Nagin dismissed accusations of racism for his failure to even consider a Twizzler for the position by saying, “If God had wanted Twizzlers in postions of authority he would have made them out of chocolate.”
# January 19th, 2006 at 6:56 pmThe mayor of Minneapolis could not say this about his population without howls of protest and demands of resignation.
Why is it that reasonable people will let others speak long enough so you can tell if a person is an idiot or not?
The PC types want the truth to be “illegal.” The local government’s ineptitude led to much of the problems in New Orleans.
That storm pointed out the need to have a firearm to guard your home when the police are overwhelmed.
They need an election there to “cleanup” local government. Also you should not live in an area where your local government is this bad for so long.
# January 19th, 2006 at 7:34 pmyeah, ray ray is a bit of a loose cannon. at least he speaks his mind. i suppose the same can be said for most of you guys…
# January 19th, 2006 at 7:59 pmwhat a pile of crap. whatever, there is a big difference. we’re not rascist. big difference dude.
# January 19th, 2006 at 8:05 pmWhatever… Why don’t you just think, before typing.
At least he speaks his mind? WTF kinda arguement is that? This isn’t about speaking your mind. This is about a man in a position of power, who can blatantly preach his racial beliefs, and not catch the same amount of flack that a “cracker” would.
# January 19th, 2006 at 8:43 pm[Homer Simpson imitation] Mmmmmmm Chocolate City (Drrrroooooolll)[Homer Simpson imitation]
# January 20th, 2006 at 12:09 amChad-Why are we Vanilla? Thats so damn sissy. Can’t we be something badass like…..mashed potatoes?…..or…………… milk……………yea never mind.
# January 20th, 2006 at 3:16 pmChad-
Are you telling me that you’re surprised that double standards in this country? Your central argument is that a white mayor would get lots of criticism if he made similarly racist comments while a black mayor does not, but Nagin has gotten plenty of flak. I watched a half hour segment on the national news last night about it, and plenty of criticism was heaped on him …
Frankly, the reason his comments don’t bother me is because i’m not particularly concerned what the ethnic composition of the rebuilt New Orleans ends up being. It can be chocolate city for all i care. and, not that it vindicates him or anything, but it’s not as if Mr. Nagin is the first person in a position of power to say something racist.
and Erik- I was comparing you guys to Ray Nagin on the basis of outspokeness, not racism.
# January 22nd, 2006 at 3:09 pmChad- You rock.
# January 29th, 2006 at 9:56 amWhatever - the critism Nagin received pales in comparison to the impeachment a white mayor would have received.
That makes you very much like Nagin too. Whats the point of saying it? It doesnt really adhere to the arguement.
# January 29th, 2006 at 12:50 pmChad-
1) It’s pointless to speculate about what would happen to a white mayor if he made a racist comment, a la Nagin, because, since the age of political correctness began, no white mayor has been stupid enough to make such a comment in a public forum. All I know is that Nagin had a pretty tough time in the press.
2)Erik said I called you racist. Read my post, and you’ll see that i didn’t, because i don’t think you are. I dunno how my not calling you racist makes me like Nagin, but OK.
# January 29th, 2006 at 6:21 pmnow you’re just confusing things.
1. you said we’re like nagin.
2. erik said we arent racists.
3. you said we’re like nagin for being outspoken.
4. i’m saying, then whats the point in saying we’re like nagin, when the only connection people make is that we’re racists?
so you are either
a. covering the ‘calling us racists’ by saying you ment that we’re outspoken.
b. the only one who would make that connection that we’re like nagin for ‘being outspoken’. when you yourself are outspoken, so that would make you like nagin as well…. and all of this pointing to » so what?
# January 29th, 2006 at 6:24 pmMy head hurts trying to keep up with this.
# January 29th, 2006 at 6:43 pmhaha, im with you on this one jj. It’s all over the place. I think the only thing that would make sense of it, is to get really drunk, and then try and read it.
# January 29th, 2006 at 7:19 pmI thought I spelled it out pretty clear. I’m still waitin on a response from Whatever, but he’ll probably just add to the confusion.
# January 29th, 2006 at 7:22 pmLookee here boys, if a white man would have said something like that, there’d be a damn public hang’n and we all know it… The liberals and media and A.C.L.U. and N.A.A.C.P. would run that guy outta here on a freak’n rail… he wouldn’t stand a chance. He’d be done for good.
I know this is an old post, but I wanted to toss in my 2 cents.
# January 29th, 2006 at 8:56 pmI don’t know about you guys but a Chocolate North Idaho sound delicious.
# January 29th, 2006 at 9:58 pmI quote myself:
“at least he speaks his mind. i suppose the same can be said for most of you guys…”
i’m sorry if you thought that implied racism, but i think it’s pretty clear.
as for “so what?” - i agree. i wasn’t trying to make any particular point.
p.s.- I am always eager to add to the collective confusion. it’s what i do for fun.
# January 30th, 2006 at 5:49 pmi wonder what people would say if a white entertainment network popped up or if we had a miss white America contest?
# February 10th, 2006 at 7:51 pmPolitical correctness is an f***ing excuse to turn this once great nation in to a cesspool of f***ing communism. We all need guns, it is our god-given right to own them and take out anybody who says otherwise. If you want to fix the problems with the f***ing government, go get wasted. :beer:Who the f*** says we are loose cannons just because we speak our ***damned minds? If any of you politically correct a**holes are reading this, I hate all you spineless, motherf***ing worthless pieces of s***.

# February 10th, 2006 at 10:30 pmI think he has a backup that he keeps in his truck when he goes to visit her.
# February 11th, 2006 at 7:04 amAB- was i supposed to feel like an idiot because of that? God given right? Are you joking? I’m sorry, I didn’t realize God had descended to earth and specifically bestowed upon you the right to have a gun. I suppose it’s your God given right to have a lawnmower, as well?
# February 12th, 2006 at 10:54 amI’m pretty sure that God doesn’t need to descend to Earth to give us rights. We should have the right to defend ourselves with what tools we can.
# February 12th, 2006 at 1:48 pmI’m pretty sure that AB cursing like a madman and invoking “God given rights” at the same time is gigantically contradictory. also, does the right to defend oneself with what tools we can extend to stuff like nuclear weapons? seems to me that nukes are fairly ungodly…
# February 12th, 2006 at 2:10 pmNow yer being childish. I don’t mind talkin with you, but lets keep it mature.
# February 12th, 2006 at 2:14 pmhahaha - Cheney’s hunting accident and Berlusconi calling himself the “Jesus Christ of politics”. that’s a good news day.
# February 12th, 2006 at 4:23 pmDude, you think a hunting accident is “good news?” You need a boot to the skull.
# February 12th, 2006 at 6:29 pmWell, it could be interpreted as such, I mean, after all, the guy he shot was a lawyer.

# March 2nd, 2006 at 9:47 amHey everyone esp New Orleans residents.
# April 17th, 2006 at 10:46 amElection day is right around the block, make sure you vote for someone that is on your side. Do not vote for Nagin. I can say that Nagin is only looking out for himself. Before he became mayor, he was aiming for the white voters, which was exactly what he got. 85% of people who voted for him were whites. He never really acknowlage the african american voters. Now after the whole Katrina incident, he know white people, other racist, along with some blacks blame him for all the craziness that went on down town. He was suppose to be the mayor of N.O. He was suppose to take care of his people. He was suppose to have a plan, but he didn’t. He sent everyone who’s left behind to the superdome to die. I was one of them. We sat in the superdome for endless hours/days with very limited food and water. He didn’t have any control of anything. That is why people had to loot and fight for survival. He didn’t have a plan. He didn’t have any transportation ready for people without transportation. He didn’t have anything. Therefore, he was to blame. He was to blame for many deaths that was involved with H.Katrina. He was suppose to be the leader. Ask yourself, do you really want to re-elect a leader who’s only looking out for himself. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, now he wants to put a big ass landfill in New orleans east, in the area where most resident is trying to rebuild, icluding my own family. Not only he’s putting New Orleans trash there, he is also allowing St Tammany, St Bernard, Jefferson, and his own baby’s diaper to be dump there. How do you like that. I wonder if he’s getting any money on the side for himself. But of course he does. That how much he loves New Orleans and his “so claim” people. He didn’t have enough transportaion or if any for hurricane victim to leave town and yet he has loads, and loads, of buses driving N.O registered voters from all over the states to come down and vote for him, mainly African American because he knows no other racist would vote for his greedy ass. I am an Arican women, therefore I know the most black community will be voting for him because of the whole “chocolate” speech and as an african women I know my race 99% of the time we will help and support our own, but not this time. Not me anyway. From a personal view, my family had suffer too much from this Hurricane because of his unplanned emergency evacuation. Now that my family is trying to rebuild our lives, he decided to build a landfill about 10 min. from where we are without any concerns about how it would affect our lives and the people around us. The only thing he talks about how much money the city will be saving with this landfill. He never include the true New Orleans people in his plan. He let us down again. African american, please do not let this person butter you up. The chocolate speech is his desperation calling out to us african american. Just remember how many brothers and sisters we lost because our Mayor did not have a plan and think of how many people will die or get sick from the landfill he’s proposing. Are you going to trust him again. If he wins this election, New Orleans will be known as a city of dump. Remember that when you cast your vote.
I hate Ray Nagin. 8 months later after the storm and still our city maintain a dump site while other cities who also were hit by the hurricane rapidly rebuild. What the f— is he waiting for or does he knows what he’s doing? Freaking moron.
