I recently got into a discussion with a feller about the situation in the middle east. He was asking “Has Israel gone too far?” while posting a photo of a bombed out street in Lebanon.
I replied that I really didn’t think so. The entire middle east wants to wipe them out, and they get to show em that they ain’t messin around. After all, Israel didn’t go in and capture one of their soldiers. That Israli soldier has probably been tortured to death. And I would be proud to see our country kick another country’s ass over just ONE of our soldiers being taken and killed. Israel doesn’t mess around.
Some canadian lady tried to say that all the people that were bombed were innocent, and shoulden’t have been bombed. Nobody is innocent. But I say we are all guilty of sin. Mankind is ridden with it. War has been our path since the beginning of time. We have never known a “world peace”. Mankind will ultimately destroy itself, until God steps in for the finishing touch. Thats just how it is. As we create more and more powerful weapons, and these weapons become more easily accessible… we only take steps closer to our demise.
So I told her that war is hell. And with it comes collateral damage. It is too bad to see the innocents hurt because of the corrupt and evil leadership… but until they step up and remove the evil bigots, war will always be on their doorsteps.

This is definetly what you what you want to pack around in bear country. A buddy down in Florida sent me this info.
Smith & Wesson has assembled an “Emergency Survival Tool Kit” that revolves around their 460PD or 500PD revolvers, it is available with either. S&W’s Herb Belin, who developed this kit, emphasizes the short and very powerful .460 S&W and .500 S&W Magnum handguns as defense against bears. The idea of the snub nose is that it allows easy use even if attacked while in your sleeping bag in a tent, according to Herb. A longer barrel would make it more difficult to use in such a confined place and at point blank range, accuracy isn’t that much of an issue. That’s not an unheard of occurance, so he has a point.
The revolvers is equipped with a 2.75 inch unported barrel and a bright yellow Hogue Recoil Reducing Grip. Unless they are truly magic, best be prepared for a very sore hand after firing this one on the range. Anyone with a weak grip need not apply.

The remainder of the kit includes: an Ultimate Survival Blastmatch firestarter and four packages of WetFire tinder, Ultimate Survival Saber Saw, Jet Scream whistle and 2 x 3 StarFlash signal mirror, a Silva Polaris baseplate compass, two MPI Mylar Space Emergency Blankets (Note to Herb, see above article) and a Smith & Wesson Extreme Ops liner lock folding knife. Also included is the book, “Bear Attacks of the Century - True Stories of Courage and Survival” by Larry Mueller and Marguerite Reiss; just in case you weren’t paranoid enough about bears. All this is packed into a fitted bright yellow Harddig Storm Case. A ballistic nylon holster for the revolver is included. MSRP is $1150.

How practical is this kit? Well, individually, the componets are generally very good and ought to be carried on your person for use if needed. If you are traveling into bear country, a powerful firearm is advisable. While a rifle or shotgun with slugs is preferred, most of those we know that travel in such areas also carry a powerful handgun and you’d be hard pressed to find one more powerful than these two.

The more I learn about Ted Nugent… the more I dearly love the guy. He doesn’t pull any punches. I just stumbled across this interview with a british journalist, while searching for hunting quotes.
Ted Nugent, a heavy metal guitar legend and devoted (bow) hunter, was being interviewed by a French journalist. Eventually, the conversation turned to his love of outdoor pursuits. The journalist asked, “What do you think the last thought is in the head of a deer before you shoot it? Is it, “Are you my friend?” or maybe “Are you the one who killed my brother?”
Nugent replied, “They aren’t capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, What am I going to eat next? Who am I going to screw next? and, Can I run fast enough to get away? They are very much like the French in that.”

Here’s a good one for the Armed Citizen Category.
A man was shot to death near Manley Hot Springs, Alaska on Tuesday after pointing a long gun at an Alaska state trooper, officials said Thursday.
The man was shot by an out-of-state fisherman who had called for trooper assistance because, he said, the man who was killed had earlier been shooting at him and a fishing partner. The trooper was Michael Wery, based in Fairbanks. Continue…
I can’t believe that the fishermen shot the guy who was shooting at the them!!! Doesn’t he understand that he’s just lowering himself to the shooters standards? I mean, like, he should have just let the guy shoot them AND the trooper. This crazy world just doesn’t make any sense.

If any of you have mosied on by the store of late, you might have seen my latest epiphany of excellence. Thats right. I bring you the new BBQ apron, Coffe Mug and T-shirt.
Commie… the other red meat.
Yup. The idea struck me while cookin steaks on the bbq a couple of weeks ago. And now you can get your very own or give one to that all-American redneck uncle that you have. I understand the urge to frame it, but it really would be best to display your true blue at the next family get together.
Other Products.

I’ve had a nice vacation this last week. I got me a week off of work, and just had a good time hangin out with American Soldier. Yup. He’s the special guest that I mentioned earlier. We talk back and forth now and then, and he mentioned things were stressful. I told him he needed to visit Idaho for some vacation time, and he came!
We went out on Jonas’ boat and pulled in some 3 lbs bass, as you saw in the last post. We camped out in the woods, on the river over this last weekend. We shot some varmints, went on a late nite coyote hunt. Didn’t get any coyotes, but we damn near got trampled by some deer. They jumped outta the trees, and the one just bolted straight for me, AS, and brandon. We all raised our rifles, just waiting to cut her down, but at 25 yards, she stopped and ran back. It was kinda scary. I’ve seen to many internet movies where folks get trampled by moose or boxed by deer.
The first day he showed up I took him with me downtown to the Iron Horse Restaurant for our Friends of NRA meeting. After the meeting a couple of the older fellers took AS over to the bar and got to enjoy some beers and war stories.
Anyways, AS gave me the first pre-copy of his book. So that was really neat for me. Haven’t quite gotten through it all, since I’m set back on the house remodeling projects. But the intro was good, and I look forward to finishing it. While at a bar one night we talked all about the book. Since it hasn’t been published after the fallout with the last publisher, I told him he needs to get after a new one. Cos this book is really good, and the sales would help him out big time.
We also talked about a possible book number 2. One that would contain more of the gritty war stories that he has. And he has some good ones. Cos I know that I’d want to read all of that, and alot of folks do. It’d probably be a popular book. For example his first purple heart was an RPG attack. He never did write about it, but it happened just before their HMMWV was hit by an IED.
Well. We had a good time. Thanks for the beers and the stories, American Soldier. You’re welcome over anytime.

Today is America’s 230th birthday. God bless her.
If you were to ask me why I love her, it might take me a bit before I could answer. I would have to think of all the many reasons, enough to write a book about it. There’s the freedom of democracy, the right to bear arms, the prusuit of happiness, the freedom of religion… a country founded on God’s principles. It’s one thing that will always get my utmost respect, America. I will never take my freedoms for granted. I will never take for granted, the fighting men who gave their lives for my freedom. I truley believe that we are a nation under God. That Gods hand guides us, and made us the greatest nation on Earth in such a short matter of time. If we will only continue to be a nation that serves God, He will continue to bless us.
You’re a grand old flag.
You’re a high-flying flag.
And forever in peace may you wave.
You’re the emblem of the land I love,
the home of the free and the brave!
Every heart beats true for the red, white, and blue.
Where there’s never a boast or brag!
But should old acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on that Grand Old Flag!
Never forget the pains that were taken to ensure your freedoms. Never forget the fightin’ men on the front lines. The men who responded courageously to the call of duty.
I think one of my hero’s said it best. He said it best for me, and many a proud American. So I’m just gonna let the Duke do the rest of the talkin’ for me.
