My Week Off With American Soldier
07.10.06I’ve had a nice vacation this last week. I got me a week off of work, and just had a good time hangin out with American Soldier. Yup. He’s the special guest that I mentioned earlier. We talk back and forth now and then, and he mentioned things were stressful. I told him he needed to visit Idaho for some vacation time, and he came!
We went out on Jonas’ boat and pulled in some 3 lbs bass, as you saw in the last post. We camped out in the woods, on the river over this last weekend. We shot some varmints, went on a late nite coyote hunt. Didn’t get any coyotes, but we damn near got trampled by some deer. They jumped outta the trees, and the one just bolted straight for me, AS, and brandon. We all raised our rifles, just waiting to cut her down, but at 25 yards, she stopped and ran back. It was kinda scary. I’ve seen to many internet movies where folks get trampled by moose or boxed by deer.
The first day he showed up I took him with me downtown to the Iron Horse Restaurant for our Friends of NRA meeting. After the meeting a couple of the older fellers took AS over to the bar and got to enjoy some beers and war stories.
Anyways, AS gave me the first pre-copy of his book. So that was really neat for me. Haven’t quite gotten through it all, since I’m set back on the house remodeling projects. But the intro was good, and I look forward to finishing it. While at a bar one night we talked all about the book. Since it hasn’t been published after the fallout with the last publisher, I told him he needs to get after a new one. Cos this book is really good, and the sales would help him out big time.
We also talked about a possible book number 2. One that would contain more of the gritty war stories that he has. And he has some good ones. Cos I know that I’d want to read all of that, and alot of folks do. It’d probably be a popular book. For example his first purple heart was an RPG attack. He never did write about it, but it happened just before their HMMWV was hit by an IED.
Well. We had a good time. Thanks for the beers and the stories, American Soldier. You’re welcome over anytime.
.

Right on, It’s always good to relax and enjoy yourself.:beer::beer:
