Google Failed Veterans

11.16.06

Again. For awhile now, Google has been failing to decorate their logo in observance of Veterans day. This last Veterans day has been the final straw for many. Myself included. Chad S. over at 3G made a post about it, and it helped kick start me as well.

I am cutting Google out of my daily usage. No more gmail, google toolbar, google images, google videos, and google searching. They don’t support my right to self defense through owner ship of guns, or my right to enjoy the sport of hunting, or my right to use their services, while remaining a politically unbiased company. In other words… they’re a bunch of commies, and the only good commie is a dead commie.

I now have Ask.com as my homepage.

I’ve found a half-assed response from Google, posted on the Free Republic site.

Thank you for your note. We’re glad that you appreciate Google’s holiday logos and would like to explain why we didn’t post one for Veterans Day this year. Please be assured that the decision whether to display a special logo for a holiday does not reflect any judgment on our part about the holiday itself.

Google’s special logos tend to be lighthearted in nature. If we were to commemorate Veterans Day, we would want to express reverence, rather than mirth. This would be a particularly challenging design. We would not want to, in any way, create a graphic that could be interpreted as disrespectful. In light of the mail we’ve received about this, we’re actively considering designs we could display on this day next year. We welcome any suggestions you may have.

Regards, The Google Team

A multi-million dollar corporation is having a hard time designing a logo out of reverence for our Veterans??? Then I’m gonna find myself having a hard time using any of their services.

That response was a B.S. cop out. I’d spend the time designing a logo that honored our hero’s… but I know that isn’t the truth. So I won’t waste my time. I don’t need to support a company that would turn it’s back on the soldiers who gave their company the opportunity to become what they have. They’re the dog that bit the hand that feeds them. So long, Google.

Well said. Why is it that we have a hard time with commies that benefit us? Being an IT Pro by trade, I’ve admired Google for their technical prowess. All of that is down the tubes.
