Democrats New Promise

02.02.07

I got this in my email. Figger’d I’d share. I dunno who the author is.

The Democrats new promise “A New Direction For America - Vote Democratic”

The stock market is at a new all-time high and America’s 401 K’s are back. A new direction from there means, what?

Unemployment is at 25 year lows. A new direction from there means, what?

Taxes are at 20 year lows. A new direction from there means, what?

Federal tax revenues are at all-time highs. A new direction from there means, what?

The Federal deficit is down almost 50%, just as predicted over last year. A new direction from there means. what?

Home valuations are up 200% over the past 3.5 years. A new direction from there means, what?

Inflation is in check, hovering at 20 year lows. A new direction from there means, what?

Not a single terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11/01. A new direction from there means, what?

Osama bin Laden is living under a rock in a dark cave, having not surfaced in years, if he’s alive at all, while 95% of Al Queda’s top dogs are either dead or in custody, cooperating with US Intel. A new direction from there means, what?

Several major terrorist attacks already thwarted by US and British Intel, including the recent planned attack involving 10 Jumbo Jets being exploded in mid-air over major US cities in order to celebrate the anniversary of the 9/11/01 attacks. A new direction from there means, what?

Just as President Bush foretold us on a number of occasions, Iraq was to be made “ground zero” for the war on terrorism — and just as President Bush said they would, terrorist cells from all over the region are arriving from the shadows of their hiding places and flooding into Iraq in order to get their faces blown off by US Marines rather than boarding planes and heading to the United States to wage war on us here. A new direction from there means, what?

Now let me see, do I have this right? I can expect:

a.. The economy to go South
b.. Illegals to go North
c.. Taxes to go Up
d.. Employment to go Down
e.. Terrorism to come in
f.. Tax breaks to go Out
g.. Social Security to go away
h.. Health Care to go the same way gas prices have gone

But what the heck! I can gain comfort by knowing that Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Edward Kennedy, Howard Dean, Harry Reid, and Barak Obama have worked hard to create a comprehensive National Security Plan, Health Care Plan, Immigration Reform Plan, Gay Rights Plan, Same Sex Marriage Plan,Abortion On Demand Plan, Tolerance of Everyone and Everything Plan, How to Return all Troops to the U.S. in The Next Six Months Plan, A Get Tough Plan, adapted from the French Plan by the same name and a How Everyone Can Become as Wealthy as We Are Plan. I forgot the No More Katrina Storm Plan.

Now I know why I feel good after the elections. I am going to be able to sleep soooooo much better at nights knowing these dedicated politicians are thinking of me and my welfare.

Please pass this good news along to all of your friends so they can also feel better.

One thing I love about “economy statistics” is that the left always says they’re one way, and the right says they’re the other way. How do we really know what the truth is, anyways?

I think what they mean is more of a new direction in the terms of a popularity contest. Let’s how many loser countries we can get to like us!!

Great point Chad. The Republicans have spent without bounderies, killed personal freedoms, and made our borders a haven for criminals. This left vs right thing is a noble one but the truth is it is communism vs liberty. The left is for commies and the right is for liberty. That is my two rungs of judgement. Less government and more freedom. Less restrictions on us. I think our President has sold us short. I am thankful for some actions but he is allowing our country to be invaded.

The house and senate democrats preach a “New Direction” but have no clue what that direction is ! Maybe they have a new political magnetic compass that only shoots true south ?

Chad, you’ve hit the nail on the head! Everything is the best it’s ever been! George Bush’s reign has been nothing but fabulous for this country. And just when Karl Rove and the boys we were on the verge of reaching a utopian America, here come the Democrats to screw it all up! Ain’t that the worst luck?

That is if you ignore the War in Iraq, our MASSIVE budget deficit, which is being financed by that benevolent democracy China (the deficit is down? compared to what? the number of stars in the Milky Way galaxy? or the pre-Bush levels?), the fact that we are polluting ourselves to death and won’t even sign the Kyoto Protocol that frankly isn’t even close to sufficient, that the republicans can seem to go more than 2 weeks with some kind of sex or corruption scandal, the “No Child Left Behind” initiative, which is more or less the bane of public education (are you planning on sending your kids to public school? cause I guarantee they’ll spend more time learn how to take tests than how to add and subtract, my brother does. perhaps if they weren’t cutting education and health care services already to give the rich tax breaks, this wouldn’t be such an issue. How much did you get back from that tax cut? a couple hundred? At least the big business owners got to keep a few more million, that will of course “trickle down” to the masses that Bush’s immigration plan consists of building a big fence to keep out the darkies, instead of doing what’s actually necessary (honestly, do I need to explain that one to you again?)

but at least HOME VALUATIONS are up! gee what are all these liberal whiners on about? you must’ve looked long and hard for that scrap of “good news”. and a plan to blow up ten jumbo jets? with what? rocks? terrorism is definitely in check - they’re all over in Iraq trying to think up new and exciting ways to kill our troops (who should be getting their body armor eventually) and other iraqs, neither of whom count apparently, so all clear on that front! I feel really secure considering that the terrorists would have to be at least as smart as a 9 year old boy to get past our iron airport security.

    these sure are high times!

bottom line Chad: you don’t have to support the republicans just because they’re “conservative”. about the only thing they’ve proven themselves to be is stupid these past years. i don’t support the democrats just because they’re liberal. i think they’re a bunch of morons. but they’d have to be REALLY talented to mess things up worse than your supposedly “conservative” bedfellows have done. stop supporting an ethically and politically bankrupt party, because they give all conservatives a bad name.

Ah, simon. i was wondering what took you so long.

I don’t jump on board with everything that the so-called “right-wing” currently believes. So lets not jump to conclusions.

I know this post is an email floatin around the innernets and such, and probably not 100% accurate in every detail.

    but thats not the point.

At least the republicans currently in actually HAVE strategery, to use a bushism.

    strategery

Sorry, didn’t notice the note at the top… the news about home valuations got me so excited

The Democrats have failed to coherently articulate an alternative to the republican policies.

    True.

The republican policies have been good for America.

    Very, very false.

The republican policies have been good for America.
    Very, very false.

Purely an opinion, which you are fully entitled to. As I don’t agree with everything they do, it sure beats the heck out of what any liberal would do.

If I had any control, the southern border would be a “no mans land”. Border crossers shot on sight. It would only take a few shootings, before there woulden’t be any more crossings.

  9. Gravatar Simple Simon Says

Yeah only the small matter of the other 12 odd million to deal with… the Soviets tried it, and called it the Berlin wall, and boy did that work great. if people are desperate enough to risk their lives to get in - which they already clearly are because they’re crossing the most incredible inhospitable sections of desert to do it - gunning them down or fencing them out is a primitive, costly, and ineffective solution. people respond to incentives, so remove the incentive (by cracking down on employers of illegals, even the “american” ones) and suddenly there isn’t a bright future waiting on the other side of the border. it gets rid of the illegals, creates jobs for americans, and solves most of the border problem in one fell swoop. then it would just be a matter of stop drug and other black market related trade, which is the normal job of the border patrol anyway and will always be a problem.

  10. Gravatar Van Zant Says

I never thought I’d say this, ss, but thats a good point. I still think we should do more about it at the source of the border but you do bring up a good point that they are risking their lives to cross in the first place by traveling through the desert so they’d probably still risk getting shot.

  11. Gravatar Simple Simon Says

Yeah the real problem concerning the border is not some sort of mexican invasion, but a lack of political will. the reason for the problem is that cracking down on employers of illegal immigrants would be political and economic suicide.

  12. Gravatar liz Says

boarder controll= 200 yds of land mines in front an electric fence and sniper towers every 5 miles run by marine snipers, lets let our boys get some target practice shall we?. end of story. end of illegal ‘migration’ aka ‘invasion’. as for the illegals already here simply ENFORCE our laws already in place! and PUNISH the employers severly! oh and i am fully supportive of a nationwide ’round up’ to collect them and boot ‘em out. sure, we wont get every last single one but we can get most of ‘em. oh and guess what? NO anchor babies! two illegals dropping a kid on american soil does NOT make that baby an american!

and there you go. problem solved.

  13. Gravatar liz Says

 wouldnt it be funny if we could like deport them to different countries? (say….fwance? try gettin’ across THAT pond!):lol:

  14. Gravatar Simple Simon Says

yeah, that sounds good. instead of forcing the illegals to leave of their own accord by the millions turning off the illegal jobs faucet, we can build a fence (maybe we can hire some Mexican day laborers?), start planting landmines and get all those troops we’ve got sitting around twiddling their thumbs (not like there’s a war on or anything, is it?) and cut the Mexicans down like dogs(even though they are ultimately the ones being taken advantage of for what is practically forced labour. how many millionaire mexican day laborers have you heard of?)
    that seems sensible.

i hope you’re kidding. i just don’t see how anyone could disagree with my solution to the illegal immigration problem. i’m not saying it will ever happen (too many rich powerful people would find their wallets hurting) but if we were serious about stop illegal immigration, enforcing employment laws on THE EMPLOYERS is the way to go. if we did that, the Mexican government would be the ones with the immigration problem. no fence, no marines, no land mines, no crap. just simple law enforcement and the power of economic incentives.

  15. Gravatar liz Says

ok simon so we’ll broadcast a two week notice for them to pack up and hit the road of their own accord before we give ‘em the big black boot them hows that?
and yes i do likey my land mines, electric fences and marine snipers thankyouverymuches.

forced labor are you kidding me?!?

and yes i am fully aware how busy our troops are. i’ve been married to one for almost ten years, and he’s currently on his third tour in the sand.

BUT at least we agree on the illegal employer stomp

  16. Gravatar Simple Simon Says

    Liz,
No need for a notice, or anything else. Just take their jobs away and suddenly the high costs of living in the US (this is a CRITICAL factor that I havent emphasized enough; it is much more expensive to live here than in mexico, even if you live like the typical day laborer…), being away from home (for some of them) and the threat of deportation (I’m not saying we should stop deporting altogether, just that we don’t need to be any more aggressive than we already are.) will seem a lot more severe.

As for forced labor, yes I was partly kidding. But the point I was making is that the mexicans wouldn’t stay if there wasn’t money in it for them. So turn off the money flow, and the vasy majority won’t even want to be here anymore. We won’t need to force them out, or keep them from coming back cause their reason for being here (you do agree that their main reason for being here is to “steal our jobs” don’t you?) would be gone.

  17. Gravatar Van Zant Says

I hate when people say that they do the jobs americans won’t: they do that jobs americans won’t do for THOSE WAGES.

  18. Gravatar Van Zant Says

Nobody said that but ss’s “stealing our jobs” thing reminded me of it.

  19. Gravatar Simple Simon Says

Yeah I don’t agree with the argument you paraphrased either. That and the “America is a country of immigrants” thing irritate me because they aren’t relevant and try to ignore the problem rather than solving it.

  20. Gravatar Simple Simon Says

p.s. they aren’t stealing our jobs, we’re giving them jobs. the mexicans really aren’t the big bad villains here. it’s the companies and people that employ them.

but at the end of the day it’s your choice: enforce the law on the relatively small group of individuals and organizations that employ illegals or try to punish each one. if you can’t see the sense in what I suggest, then go ahead and try your stupid fences, landmines, border patrols and paddy wagons. and may god help you, cause you’ll definitely need it.

  21. Gravatar liz Says

see, here’s the thing simon. they ARENT doing ‘jobs that americans wont do’ americans WOULD do those jobs. the illegals are just cheaper for the companies to hire for several reasons. first, when you get paid and you’re company takes out your medicare tax and the company has to match that amount and send it to uncle sam. if you’re illegal they dont have to do that. second, they dont have to carry that costly workers comp insurance, third, they dont have to pay unemployment benefits, fourth, the illegals have been known to work for LESS than minimum wage, usually a day rate. so its a win win really.

i am in complete agreement with you! there needs to be PUNISHMENT for these shady companies. laws for this are alrready IN PLACE. but nobody’s ENFORCING THEM. what good is having laws that arent enforced? i tend to veer toward the more swift and severe punishment. heavy fines and yanking of buisness licenses. because it eliminates the question in their head of ‘is it worth the risk?’ make the answer an resounding NO and you dont have to worry about it.

with that out of the way, we MUST secure those boarders (cananda too, thats where our hijakers came in from)
and again i prefer swift and severe measures. ie electric fences etc. so again those people thinking about crossing, realize its not worth the risk.

here’s the funny thing about people. if they THINK they can do something and get away with it, there is a much higher probability that they will do it. comes down to the old ‘risk vs. reward’. take away the reward, ie jobs, and skyrocket the risk, ie life & limb, they will stop coming.

you cant make laws that arent enforced and expect them to work. you cant do namby pamby measures of protecting yourself and expect it to work. it wont.

  22. Gravatar Simple Simon Says

great! I’m glad you agree with me that this issue is a matter of incentives. I hope that next time illegal immigration comes up, you’ll be with me in saying “forget the mexican day laborers, we need to go for these companies that are selling working class americans down the river first, and then we can start worrying about rounding up Jose and the boys.”

heck, without a job, unwelcome in a foreign country, and with the usual risk of capture and deportation, Jose and the boys might find themselves looking for a ride back home…
