No, that is incorrect. It doesn’t matter if genetics is to blame or not for pedophilia—if someone breaks the laws of this society and infringes on another person’s civil or human rights, they have to be punished for it, regardless of whether they were born that way or not.

People are born brain damaged and sometimes are so mentally handicapped that they are violent towards others. These people are kept in institutions, locked up away from the rest of society. They were born that way, yet we have absolutely no choice but to isolate them from everyone else, in effect punishing them for something they have no control over. It’s unfortunate (for them), yet it’s the only alternative.

Your contention that if pedophilia was found to be genetic means we wouldn’t be able to punish people who raped children is ridiculous—we have a legal and moral responsibility to keep people who attack, rape, harm or kill others away from free society. If homosexuality was genetic then that would mean that they can’t change and they shouldn’t be allowed to shower with men with the “same parts” but not the same genetic makeup. Since gay’s were openly allowed to shower next me at the FOB in Afghan and Iraq, then if I displayed a tendency towards cross dressing could I then shower in the ladies facilities and be protected by this “dont ask dont tell” policy ?
