The 71-year-old retired Marine who opened fire on two robbers at a Plantation sub shop late Wednesday, killing one and critically wounding the other, is described as a former pilot for two presidents. ”He’s in great shape,” Wesley White said of his longtime friend, John Lovell. “He doesn’t drink, he doesn’t smoke, he works out every day.”
Lovell was a man of action Wednesday night. According to Plantation police, two masked gunmen came into the Subway at 1949 N. Pine Island Rd. just after 11 p.m. There was a lone diner — Lovell, who was finishing his meal. After robbing the cashier, the two men attempted to shove Lovell into a bathroom and rob him as well. They got his money. But then Lovell pulled his handgun, opened fire, shooting one of the thieves in the head and chest and the other in the head. Read the rest of this entry »

I can’t say that I know much about Ron Paul, at this point. I’ve been hearing his name, and seeing all the comments. I watched this promo video today, and I was pretty impressed. I’m not sure if I see eye to eye when it comes to sitting back and waiting to be attacked. But at the same time I realize how much our monetary value has decreased, through the funding of our “foreign policy”. It would be good to recoup for the next few years, and build our strength. I was alarmed when he mentioned we had to borrow from China to fund some of our military operations. If that doesn’t flash a red flag for you, then I don’t know what will.
I’m interested in learning more about this feller.

Should people who lawfully possess firearms be able to leave them locked in their motor vehicles, on business property? Common sense would say, “yes.” All 50 states allow the transportation of firearms in motor vehicles for all lawful purposes and 48 states allow the carrying of firearms in vehicles for personal protection, in some manner.1 More than one of every four of America`s 65-80 million gun owners carries a firearm in his or her vehicle for protection.2
The U.S. Constitution and the constitutions of 46 states protect the right to arms and/or self-defense.3 And since 1986, federal law has protected the right to transport firearms in vehicles interstate.4
However, over the last few years disagreements over the right of people to leave firearms locked in their vehicles on business property have arisen. As a result, five state legislatures have passed, and during their current legislative sessions additional states are considering passing, laws to protect that right.5 Read the rest of this entry »

Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine said he will await the findings of a panel studying the Virginia Tech shootings before considering whether to allow people with gun permits to carry firearms on college campuses.
Go ahead and study real hard. Use that extremely educated brain, and see if you can find the answer. If only we could resurrect the genius Albert Einstein, maybe he could discover the answer.
The best part of this article!!!
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence contends that having armed students at Norris Hall probably would have only made matters worse by putting unarmed students in a crossfire with Cho.
I love the Brady Campaign. I agree, Sarah. Much better to have 32 dead students total, then to have a student get hit in a crossfire resulting in only 5 deaths total. Who needs Albert Einstein when this broad is offering her profound wisdom for free.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from “Miffed” to “Peeved.” Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross.” Londoners have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to a “Bloody Nuisance.” The last time the British issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was during the great fire of 1666.
Also, the French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from “Run” to “Hide.” The only two higher levels in France are “Surrender” and “Collaborate.” The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France ’s white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country’s military capability.
It’s not only the English and French that are on a heightened level of alert. Italy has increased the alert level from “Shout Loudly and Excitedly” to “Elaborate Military Posturing.” Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides.”
The Germans also increased their alert state from “Disdainful Arrogance” to “Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs.” They also have two higher levels: “Invade a Neighbor” and “Lose.”
Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels.
The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

If there is anything that makes me smile, its watching greenpeace protesters get a good solid shut down.
Police rammed two inflatable speed boats that breached a security zone around a seaside resort where world leaders were meeting today, tipping activists into the Baltic and injuring three of them.
A spokesman for environmental pressure group Greenpeace said the boats had attempted to deliver a message to world leaders gathered in a luxury hotel in Heiligendamm to commit to measurable targets for cuts in greenhouse emissions.
Four protesters ended up in the Baltic waters after the chase. A banner saying “G8 act now” had been displayed on one of the boats.
