To Whom it May Concern,

This letter is written to let you know that I intend to stop doing any and
all business with any of your brands, and will forward a copy of this
letter to all people on my e-mail list, several blogs and several
newsgroups.

This is a result of your corporate decision to fire the individual
identified as “Alex”, who was a law abiding citizen, and a concealed carry
permit holder in the state of Florida. On 05-06-07 two armed robbers robbed
your Pizza Hut in the Americana Plaza in Orlando, FL. Alex defended himself
and the other employee, wounded one of the robbers which led to his arrest,
and hopefully his prosecution.

Policy 960 is a company policy that creates victims. “Alex” held a valid
Florida concealed carry license. The laws of the state of Florida and the
constitution of the United States of America do not get checked at the door
of your restaurant.

Do you and your stock holders really think it would have been better for
two of your employees to have been harmed or murdered at the hands of armed
criminals? What steps are you going to take to protect the people that make
your business what it is when you choose to disarm them and leave them to
the benevolence of felons?

Be assured I will be watching the news, as will many others; when the
inevitable happens, and one or more of your employees are murdered by armed
criminals, we will see to it that the families of those murdered sue your
corporation for violating their constitutional rights, and for failing to
provide for their safety as a matter of corporate policy.

Sincerely Disgusted,

Insane. The teacher told us all that if we decided to carry on the job and it was against the rules, then you should obey your conscience. It is better safe than being a statistic.

Oh, a Jehovah Witness who happens to be an old friend told me that I didn’t trust God if I carried. My reply was this, I can trust God for myself but what about people around me who may not be ready to meet their maker. I can turn the other cheek but my children are not ready to make that choice.

I’m glad this employee had the guts to do the right thing even when “Company Policy” said he was wrong.

Well Pizza Huts policy blows BUT it’s entirely their business to have said policy AND your decision as to if you want to work under those ridiculous conditions (of all businesses to have such a policy, insane!).

I would say there seems to be an issue with the incident (although the details are sketchy), the BG’s had left the premises and the victim had to move from behind cover, the counter and pursue, go to the door and open it in order to engage them. DON’T get me wrong BUT in CA he’d be up on a attempted murder rap.

CS, your friend’s comment is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard–does he look both ways before crossing the street? Wear a seatbelt while in a car? Does he think motorcyclists who wear helmets don’t trust in god?

I don’t believe in god, but I assume that most people who do realize that god gave you the free will and ability to ensure your own safety and that of your loved ones.

Sounds to me like he’s an anti-gunner trying to justify his views with theology.

Dang guav. for a filthy heathen, you nailed that one down.

I read an interview with a guy who carried, and a anti-gunner asked him “Have you ever had to use it?”. His reply, “No, and I’ve never used my vehicle airbags, but I’m glad they are there”.

It seems to me that the Christian God is supposed to look out for you to a certain extent, answer your prayers, etc … but from what I can understand he’s not supposed to be some sort of supernatural babysitter who will save you from your own intentional negligence.

I would think that confusing faith with carelessness and not taking certain steps to safeguard his creation would maybe even piss him off a little?

I dunno. Just seemed like a really odd comment to make. Might as well walk around with your eyes closed trusting that your faith in God will prevent you from falling into an open manhole. I just picture God up in the clouds watching this guy thinking, “You idiot.”

Then again, what do I know.

  6. Gravatar Chad Says

As a believer, I feel you summed it up nicely.

Who are you… what have you done with Guav! Release him at once, or suffer the wrath of the PTA posse!

    You nailed it perfectly…

  8. Gravatar Guav Says

I said nothing out of character!

Now, if I hadn’t added the “I don’t believe in god” qualifier, you would be right to be suspicious that someone else had been posting under my name :)

  9. Gravatar cs Says

True. But everyone makes mistakes with their faith at times, you’ll get through the atheist phase soon enough…

  10. Gravatar Guav Says

As soon as you get through your whole ghost in the clouds phase :)

  11. Gravatar Chad Says

guav - yer so cute and sassy and exciting. ghost in the clouds… is that the extent of your idea of the spiritual realm?

  12. Gravatar toxique Says

It somehow resembles me the Ramos-Compean case.
    Hell whats wrong with America????

  13. Gravatar cs Says

Wow… and to think Guav defined my faith without even asking. I’d rather consider God to be more than a “ghost in the clouds”. To try and define God in 1 billion words or less would be impossible.

  14. Gravatar Guav Says

Chad, cs … come on. I was clearly just returning a good-natured jab with another good-natured jab. Don’t go getting all serious on me now, or I’ll have to call the Waaahmbulance :D

Besides, isn’t the snarky atheist the role you guys expect me to play?

  15. Gravatar cs Says

 I figgered you were just jabbing thats why I didn’t unleash all my knowledge upon you, as a mere mortal you would have been overtaken. Well it was only a test, to see if the real guav would surface.

  16. Gravatar Chad Says

guav - yes. i know. i just had to 1-up you, much like mario.
