Iowa Caucus
01.04.08And my man Huck pulls through, despite the nay say from both sides.
Interesting note - Iowa is 98% White (read cracker). If a super white state voted up a black candidate over the other white commies… does this mean that Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton might be out of jobs soon? Because if they can no longer play their own race off as hated and pathetic…
what kinna bidness is down playin a brotha’s race, anyhow?

i hate that Obama really is only getting so much attention because he’s black. he’s only been in the Senate for two years yet everyone thinks hes gonna be such a good president and in my opinion its just because he’s black. i’m not racist, i have several black friends, but it is absolutely ridiculous that all his attention is gained by his race, not his credentials or experience. just like with Billary, everyone loves her because shes a woman, who the hell cares? i don’t care if a person who isn’t white is elected, i don’t care if a woman is elected. what i care about is getting someone who isn’t a gun grabbing douche elected. i dislike Obama and Clinton because of their beliefs and voting records. why can’t everyone else look at that instead of their appearance?
# January 4th, 2008 at 12:40 pmI dont really find the Democrat race to be very interesting at all. You see three front runners that are very identical when it comes to their ultra left politics.
The race on the right is much different. It seems to be shaping up to be a very divisive race. It has pitted GOPer against GOPer, which in itself is ultimately bad for our party… yet it is good for politics.
You see talking heads like Rush Limbaugh, telling the public that Iowans made a terrible mistake in who they chose, yet he vows that he is to remain neutral in the primaries. You have Glenn Beck who says the same, yet endorses his fellow Mormon, Romney, each and everyday. GOPers are also hearing that if you don’t vote Ron Paul, you are nothing but a stupid Lib.
I find all of this totally amazing yet interesting at the same time.
# January 4th, 2008 at 1:43 pmI don’t really find the Democrat race to be very interesting at all either, but the three front runners are hardly “ultra left,” least of all Hillary Clinton (my least favorite of them). Dennis Kucinich is far left.
Unfortunately, of all the Democratic candidates, only Bill Richardson has an A rating from the NRA. The rest of them will probably try to reinstate the AWB, which is a dealbreaker for me.
I’m not too excited about the GOP candidates either. Looks like another crappy election year for me.
# January 4th, 2008 at 2:44 pmI dont know dude, looking at her record over at ontheissues.com she seems very far left to me. I know she has tried to on a number of occasions to move more center (usually during her campaigns), but her record speaks for itself.
Edwards and Obama are just as left.
# January 4th, 2008 at 8:34 pmFunny, these race baiters are such clever extortionists. Obama will probably eat Hillary’s lunch like Wal-Mart did Kmart.
Don’t bet on the Dems this year. Obama will get called out for dissn’ the flag. Ultra-Dems now, despise the flag. It is becoming protocol w/ Libs across college campuses.
If government abuse through taxation becomes a front issue, well –it will be a slam dunk for the GOP. Dems hate Wal-Mart like they hate for you to keep more of your money.
Jesse and Sharpton –WHAT RACISTS!
# January 5th, 2008 at 3:59 pmHint: through spiritual healing is redemption. That will never happen with these so called reverends. I can’t wait to hear a slip of the tongue from Obama, maybe “Chocolate Capitol.”
ryan, elections at this level don’t have anything to do with qualifications, or are you telling me that george bush was the most qualified republican in the country? it’s about personality and whatnot (including race, gender, etc) cause what you’re doing most of the time is presenting other people’s work and decisions…
anyway, i share everyone’s boredom with the current races for prez - the whole thing is just painful. they should just put the biggest spenders (maybe george soros vs rupert murdoch?) up against each other, and have at it.
# January 6th, 2008 at 12:19 amI’m not too impressed with much coming from the crazy side of the isle, although I’ve always been impressed by Richardson. Obama seems to be a real crowd-pleaser and an orator, in an Obama vs Huckabee match-up he’d wipe the floor with Huckabee.
# January 6th, 2008 at 1:52 amYOU may be right Stevil. BUT I will bet in the end Ol’ F.T. will be standing tall with the Huckster. THAT would be a hard act to beat.
Obama, well he is just a flaming Lib. AND like most Libs they just don’t really stand for honesty, and scheme to tax us again and again. [Edwards is the icon of LIB fakeness]
HELL it is just protocol to create crisis and then illusion of help. Remember what Reagan said!
# January 6th, 2008 at 7:31 pmObama would wipe the floor with Huckabee? Dude, ease off the hater-ade. Huckabee has defeated the Clinton machine in Arkansas multiple times. Obama is joke, and it is a matter of time before people see that.
Also, Richardson… impressive? Dude, he couldn’t talk his way out of a wet paperbag last night at the debate. And you are talking about a man who makes Hillary look like Rush Limbaugh. The dude is out in the Lefty Woods.
# January 6th, 2008 at 7:43 pmSimple Simon - i don’t believe i ever mentioned bush, please don’t put words in my mouth.
i basically said that i think that it’s ridiculous that elections/politics in general don’t have anything to do with a person’s qualifications most of the time.
all the sheeple just think “oh hes black i’ll vote for him!” or “oh shes a woman i’ll vote for her” and maybe in bush’s case “oh he’s not too bright… reminds me of myself, hey i’ll vote for him” when they could be sitting down, thinking about it and attempting to research who they are voting for (or planning to vote for) instead of screwing the country up by voting for someone based on a physical attribute.
# January 6th, 2008 at 8:50 pmI doubt that Obama’s race had as much direct influence on his victory in Iowa as did his charisma and his undeniable gift as an orator. I can’t stand the guy’s politics, but man do I love to watch him speak.
When you hear people interviewed about why they support Hillary, 99% of them say “she’s a strong woman” or “it’s time for a woman to be President”. I haven’t heard anybody yet say “Obama’s a strong black man” or “it’s time for a black man to be President”. Obama doesn’t play identity politics (yet). The only person I’ve heard make an issue out of his race was Joe Biden.
I think what he has latched on to is that he is young, handsome, intelligent, and extremely articulate in his message for “Hope for America” and yes, his skin tone is darker and he’s got a funny name. All of these things work together to make him stand out, but remember he isn’t the first black man to run for President (anybody remember Alan Keyes?)
Superficially, he represents a very stark contrast to the same old tired, stiff, boring hags and hacks that most people are tired of. His campaign organizers know that primary voters turn out largely based on style and not substance, hence all the 30-second sound bites and Huck playing bass all across the fruited plain (incidentally, this point alone may end up being Fred’s undoing, but more on that another time). If you look just underneath the surface he is indistinguishable (as others have noted) from the others.
Returning to the idea that his unquestionable power behind the podium is the biggest thing he’s got going for him (did anybody watch his victory speech in Iowa on Thursday night? I don’t even like him, but…wow), remember what happened last time someone got elected based on his gift of powerful public speaking.
I’ve heard a lot of anti-Hucksters say, “I’m not voting for a pastor, I’m voting for a President”. Well, it’s important to remember too that we’re not choosing a National Storyteller here, we’re choosing the next Leader of the Free World, and he just doesn’t have what it takes. Unfortunately, that probably doesn’t matter.
# January 7th, 2008 at 11:11 amSuperficially, or Superfly Obama yo’ mama! Well just watching that debate made me sick of the same old tired story of how “the American people need/want change.”
The four panel of Dem straw pullers are just that. Grasping and sickening. But I believe most Voters are hugely uneducated on reality of “Defending one’s self” and “how the political filthy rich” taxes our ass.
They aren’t helping anyone. So I was hoping our Huckster would put the matter of letting us keep our paycheck by pushing the fairtax. (WINNING ISSUE) This will take repealing the 16th Amendment.
# January 7th, 2008 at 3:12 pmryan,
# January 7th, 2008 at 8:32 pmsorry for putting words in your mouth. i couldn’t agree with you more on the voter interest thing.
JJ, I’m aware Richardson is a flaming lib, hell they all are… but in interviews he always come across quite well as a real person, he’s less of a stuffed shirt politico. AND if you think for one second my issues with Huckabee make me a hater for being worried about the GOP candidate that could well face Obama then you are very misguided in your assumption. My primary worry is getting someone elected, and i’ll bet you a steak diner that if the presidential race ends-up being Huckabee vs. Obama, unfortunately Hucakbee will be trounced.
# January 8th, 2008 at 1:14 amBill Richardson has a CCW and has been given the endorsement of the NRA in multiple previous races. He even has his own video up on the NRA’s website. Frankly, I know very little about him but that’s enough to make me like him a little bit more than the other Dems (according to ontheissues.org, Obama wanted to “Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons” — ALL FORMS. Do you want to go back to single-action cowboy revolvers, guys?) Nevertheless, it doesn’t matter because he hasn’t a chance to get past Michigan and into SC or Florida.
As for Huckabee, he will be trounced by anybody in a general election. The dems don’t call him “old glass jaw” for nothing.
