Ryder Jackson Coleman

07.02.2008

My son was born June 30th at 4:28pm. Thank you Lord for this blessing and the promise of Your covenant.

They will not labor in vain,
Or bear children for calamity;
For they are the offspring of those blessed by the LORD,
And their descendants with them.
Isaiah 65:23

Today is my special day and it’s almost 90 degrees. So… we’re goin to the lake. Takin’ the dogs and the beer and the baby, and we’re fixin’ to have a good time. We’re gonna see just how good little Pistol can handle treading water at 9 weeks of age.

I’ll even try to get some pics of him sinking like a rock.

My Good Friend Copper

04.15.2006

It was spring of 2003. I had been wanting a hound dog for years, and this was the year that I was gonna get one. I was ready to search the internet, but I decided to check out the local Humane Society first. I originally had a bloodhound on my mind, but that all changed when I met Copper. He was a black and tan coonhound, and boy did he have the look.

Copper in the pickup He was already a born pickup truck dog. When ever I drove off without him… I could feel his pain. Riding in the truck was his idea of heaven. And if he wasn’t riding shotgun, he woulden’t stop bellering out the side of the truck bed. He was friendly as can be, knew to sit, and come… he was great. He went everywhere with me that year. To the lake to swim, to Jeff’s barn for riding and cleaning stalls. He was my best friend.

Sure Fire is Over There

12.20.2005

Whelp. The wife and I were headed out to her company Christmas party last Saturday night. Stayed for beer and pool at the bosses house then proceded to some fine dining at the famous Wolf Lodge Steakhouse.

Sure Fire

But Heath made his last call. He was in New Jersey, all loaded and ready to leave country. With a stop off in Ireland, he was on his way to play in the sandbox.

Head over to his milblog, and leave him some messages to come back to in a couple weeks.

Who’s Yer Daddy?

09.25.2005

Guess what guys. The wifey is pregnant.

We just found out the other night, from the little magical stick. Now I get to raise a good, little, all-American, milita man.

Ah yes… when yahoo’s spawn… It’s a beautiful thing.

My Blasted Foot

08.06.2005

So I’ve been outta commission since I woke up this morning. Yesterday (Friday) was a pretty hot day out on the job site. And I wear these big ol’ steel toe boots that keep things a bit too toasty on my feet. Mix that with the fact that my last couple toes tend to rub eachother raw, and the fact that atheletes foot will kick in on a warm day like that.

So I get a raw wound in between my last couple toes, and from there it got infected. On wakin up, I found a slight swell in the foot, which only got worse and worse as I attempted to walk/limp on it.

So now my foot looks like a blimp, and me and my brother, who just got into town last night, make a little run down to immediate care.

Nurse: “Do you have insurance?”

Chad: “Nah.”

Nurse: “Okay, it will cost you $97 greenbacks just to see a guy who has a fancy degree.”

Chad: “Um…. I just want to know if I really need attention on this, or if whiskey and playing halo will make it go away.”

Nurse: “I’m pretty sure that drinking alchahol and playing video games never got anything taken care of.”

Chad: “Oh yea… what was I thinkin…”

Nurse: *Glances at blimp foot* “Yea, infections don’t just ‘go away’ so you’ll need either a shot or some pills. Shots work faster, but cost more.”

Chad: “How much more?”

Nurse: “$90 bucks more”

Chad: “Dang. Sucks being poor white trash. Eh…. the bills don’t really need to be paid this month, I’ll go ahead and see what the doc says.”

Doc: “Here take some of these pills. It’s only 20 bucks.”

Chad: “Sweet ‘taters. I’ll take em!”

And now, I’m missing work on monday. I mean… not that I really mind. It’s just that I can’t really afford to miss a single day of work. I hate my life.

The upside: I get to sleep in past 8:30 for the first time in a long time. It’s rough workin 6 days a week. No fun at all.

The wifey’s kinfolks are rollin into town monday evening. That’ll be fun. Dang… my foot hurts.
