Pray for our Heros

04.05.2005

This is one the pictures from a series of Associated Press photographs which won a Pulitzer Prize, announced Monday, April 4, 2005. U.S. Marines pray over a fallen comrade at a first aid point after he died from wounds suffered in fighting in Iraq on April 8, 2004.

I saw this picture and my eyes started to well up. It’s just another reminder of what a brave and determined military we have here in the good ole US of A. Please continue to pray for our comrades and their families.

British Soldier wins VC for Iraq bravery

03.18.2005

A great hero who saved soldier lives

As the smoke in his driver’s tunnel cleared, he was just able to make out the shape of another rocket-propelled grenade in flight heading directly towards him.

He pulled the heavy armoured hatch down with one hand, whilst still controlling his vehicle with the other.

However, the overpressure from the explosion of the rocket wrenched the hatch out of his grip, and the flames and force of the blast passed directly over him, down the driver’s tunnel, further wounding the semi-conscious gunner in the turret.

Speaking of military bad asses

Mark, over at Thoughts of a Medic, posted this pic and story he pulled off of SGT Grits Forum. That soldier is as tuff as a coffin nail.

“An Iraqi pointed an AK47 at me and I shot and killed him, but there was another one on the stairs behind me that began firing at me with a fully-automatic AK. That’s when I went down, along with one of my young Marines. Then I noticed the hand grenade.”

Brad said his first instinct was to protect his young Marine. He covered the young man with his body and took the full brunt of shrapnel to his back when the grenade exploded.

The Last Full Measure of Devotion

Blackfive posted this, and JJ brought it to my attention. But this is a great read, with an excellent flash presentation to go with it. God bless Sgt. 1st Class Paul R. Smith and his men.

A quarter-million Americans have served in the Iraq war. Paul Ray Smith is the only one thus far nominated for the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest award for bravery.

Since the start of World War II, just 842 men have received the Medal of Honor. Almost two-thirds were killed in the action for which they were nominated.

“If the Medal of Honor today has an intangible and solemn halo around it,” wrote author Allen Mikaelian, “it is partly due to those men who did not survive to wear it.”

Gen. George Patton said he would give his soul for one. Lyndon Johnson and Harry Truman said they would rather have the medal than be president.

By law, the Medal of Honor is awarded by the president only to those in the armed services who distinguish themselves “conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of (their lives) above and beyond the call of duty.”

The New American Soldier

12.05.2004

Some of you might know that I’ve been workin on a site design for a certain soldier. I posted about him about a month ago or so. Well, he asked me to put a site together for him and here it is. American Soldier.

We even got him a store up and goin, so be sure to buy a sweet hat.

As for a few posts of his I like:

First Blood - His first confirmed. Movie quote time “I wanted to be the first kid on my block to get a confirmed kill” - What movie?

What could have been - Kind of a peek at his past.

Dream Reality & Story parts one and two.

So drop in on him, and let him know that I sent ya. Also tell him to post some more crazy war stories, cos I know he’s got em.

On the wing of an Apache

11.29.2004

A good read about two apache pilots who saved the pilots of a downed aircraft south of Baghdad. Thanks Scott.

“As I came up on them, I noticed they looked pretty bad, multiple cuts on their face and both looked like the early stages of shock had set in…”

Just wanted to point out a fellow tuff (wo)man who tends to blog in the same fashon as I…

You might recognize her for her general badassery, on the werenotsorry.com site (I think her pic was on the same page as mine). Her name is Risawn, and I just wanted to throw out a link for her, cos she packs some mean weaponry. And if there’s anything that can attract a man, it’s a woman with big guns.

By the way, Risawn, if yer reading this, and you play halo 2 online. Add me to your friend list. Pass The Ammo. Lets see if you know how to handle all that firepower.

Ann Coulter

10.14.2004

Ann Coulter - Conservababe Ann Coulter was on the Oreilly factor tonite. As we were commenting earlier, Bill really is slipping away from the right. It’s too bad. He had Ann on the show, and made her out like she was an extremist. Which is a bunch of crap. I liked her line when she was questioned about her being called extremist. She said “I consider myself a moderate, and the rest of the world is crazy”.

One thing I did learn, was that her books are hugely out-selling the fat bastards books. And I think thats awesome. She was mentioning, how they should check Barbara Streisands garage, cos she has probably been buying up liberal books, just to keep them up high on the charts.

Well, Ann is defintely a hero, because:

1) She likes guns.

2) She’s easy on the eyes. Always a plus.

3) She keeps the wacked leftists in their place.

4) Did I mention she was hot?

Update »

Did any of you see Bill’s interview with Sean Astin, following the Ann Coulter Interview???

First off, he’s the guy who played as samwise gamgee, he was mikey in the goonies, he was in encino man. He mentioned north Idaho, and how his mom, Patty Duke, lives up here. Well, she lives right behind our place, which also happens to be next to the former nazi compound.

Anyways, the interview with this kid really showed for how stupid this poor kid is. He was tryin to plug a book he wrote, that isn’t worth mentioning, and why’s he’s voting Kerry. Hollywood melts yer brains kids.

R. Lee Ermy - OO-RAH!

My Hero: Gunny For those of you who’ve seen Full Metal Jacket, and loved it, then you probably already know who this hero is, and can fully appreciate his Americaness. Gunny also runs a show on the History Channel called Mail Call, and happens to be one of the second (first being Gunsmoke) sweetest and most educational shows on the tube.

Well… He’s a hero of mine. And as my buddy Krunk put it

there’s more patriotism crammed into that website then food in michael moore!

Charlie on The Passion

09.30.2004

Charlie Daniels wrote a good bit about the Passion of the Christ. Now, I love this man, not only for his great music, but for his great writings, and for him being a great American. Enjoy!

16 Horsepower Official Site

05.13.2004

The all time greatest band ever to make sounds has finally started An Official Site. If you are unfamiliar with 16 Horsepwer’s music, I would recommend them above all. No other music group has had such an impact on my life. No other group has struck at my core, the way 16 Horsepower has. If you have a conscience, prepare to have it jolted. These fellers don’t mess around.

“He who the Lord sets free, he is free indeed.” - Heel on the Shovel
“There is power, wonder working power, in the precious blood of the lamb” - Strong Man

“From abject despair to fear and trembling, to a hope not known of this world. Sixteen Horsepower takes us from Sackcloth ‘n’ Ashes to a Low Estate into their own Secret South. Symbolically harsh and forboding, the lyrics tell a fragile story of the bankrupt condition of man’s immortal soul and the undeserved mercy of his Creator. The listener will be taken down a road not soon forgotten.”

-Carol Anderson
(Mother of David Eugene Edwards)

Back when I was in college, we had a project to create a website completely made in Flash. I chose to do these fellers, so here is my 16 Horsepower Flash Site. There are even a couple of songs you can listen to!
