Women Turn On Oprah For Backing Obama

Women turn on ‘traitor’ Oprah Winfrey for backing Barack Obama

Oprah fans leave a barrage of negative messages on her official website in response to the talk show host’s support of Obama.

AMERICA’S favorite television presenter is paying a painful price for her intervention in the US presidential campaign last month. Oprah Winfrey has been dubbed a “traitor” by some of her female fans for supporting Barack Obama instead of Hillary Clinton.

Winfrey’s website, Oprah.com, has been flooded with a barrage of abuse since the queen of daytime chat shows joined Obama on a tour of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina in mid-December.

So… If Oprah pushed for Hillary, would all the blacks call her a traitor for endorsing the white woman and not the black man?

Women shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

Teddy Bear Teacher Pardoned

12.03.2007

British TeacherLondon (dpa) - The British teacher jailed in Sudan for allowing her students to name a teddy bear Mohammed has been given a presidential pardon, reports said Monday.

A presidential adviser was quoted as saying the Briton would be freed later in the day, the British Press Association (PA) said.

The news came as two British Muslim politicians, Baroness Warsi and Lord Ahmed, met with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to plead for her release.

Gibbons, 54 and from Liverpool, was given a 15-day jail sentence last week for allegedly insulting Islam after she had allowed her primary school pupils to name the bear Mohammed.Angry Mob in Sudan

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown Monday hailed the release of the teacher as a victory for “common sense.”

In a statement issued in London, which confirmed the release of the 54-year-old, Brown said he was “delighted and relieved to hear the news that Gillian Gibbons is to be freed.”

“Common sense has prevailed. She will be released into the care of our embassy in Khartoum after what must have been a difficult ordeal.”

I’m guessing the students really hated her. Which is why they let her pull of such offensive shinanigans, like naming a bear mohammed. They wanted her dead! Those sneaky kids.

Rodney King Shot, Black People Riot

11.29.2007

Well… no riots. But why not? It’s Rodney King!

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — Southern California police said 1991 police beating victim Rodney King has been shot, but the wounds are not life-threatening.

Rialto police Sgt. Don Lewis told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that King was hit in the face and arm by shotgun pellets on a San Bernardino street corner Wednesday night. He bicycled to his home in Rialto to call police and was taken to a hospital.

Police said when they arrived at the home, King and others there appeared drunk and few were cooperative in providing information.

San Bernardino police Lt. Scott Paterson tells the San Bernardino County Sun that the shooting may have involved a domestic dispute.

King was beaten by Los Angeles police in 1991 and the officers’ subsequent acquittal on criminal charges sparked deadly rioting in 1992.

Improper Shotgun Use

11.14.2007
SOUTHWORTH, Wash. (AP) — A man trying to loosen a stubborn lug nut blasted the wheel with a 12-gauge shotgun, injuring himself badly in both legs, sheriff’s deputies said.

The 66-year-old man had been repairing a Lincoln Continental for two weeks at his home northwest of Southworth, about 10 miles southwest of Seattle, and had gotten all but one of the lug nuts off the right rear wheel by Saturday afternoon, Kitsap County Deputy Scott Wilson said.

“He’s bound and determined to get that lug nut off,” Wilson said.

From about arm’s length, the man fired the shotgun at the wheel and was “peppered” in both legs with buckshot and debris, with some injuries as high as his chin, according to a sheriff’s office report.

“Nobody else was there and he wasn’t intoxicated,” Wilson said.

The man was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with injuries Wilson described as severe but not life-threatening.

I’m pretty sure the guy should have read the warning label on his shotgun that said “Do not use to remove lug nuts”. I know all my guns have that label, which is why I’ve never used them for that task, needless to say the thought has crossed my mind.

Man Returns to Oregon to Avoid Idaho Jail

10.25.2007

ONTARIO, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon man was been arrested after fleeing police across a Snake River bridge into neighboring Idaho - only to reverse course near the stateline because he reckoned Oregon jails would be better than those in Idaho.

Michael Maddox, 42, was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of driving without insurance, failure to follow traffic laws, eluding police and drug possession.

According to Oregon State Police, Maddox had eluded officers on Sunday by heading eastward in his car into Idaho.

At that point, he stopped and drove back across the border before surrendering in a Wal-Mart store parking lot.

An Oregon State Police trooper says Maddox told him he didn’t want to go to jail in Idaho.

Maddox is being held in Malheur County jail in Vale, Ore.

Haha. Thats right, punk.

CAPITOL HILL (AP) Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden isn’t sounding too impressed with the Bush administration’s case for troop cuts in Iraq.

The Delaware senator has called the administration “phonies” for suggesting a modest withdrawal of troops from Iraq is the result of progress.

In a conference call with reporters, Biden also said Democrats made the “right decision” to not claim that the drawdown was a result of their congressional pressure, saying that it would have made them “look as bad” as the Bush administration.

Last night, Bush said 5,700 U.S. troops would be home by Christmas and that four brigades would return by July 2008, along with an undetermined number of support forces.

I don’t know if any of you have read The Dissidant Frogmans’ work before. Basically he’s the best Frenchman you’ll ever meet. He’s more American than some people I know.

Anyways, he’s a hoot, and his latest creation has been makin the rounds. Basically, a French News report showed a Iraqi woman holding two unspent cartridges, and how she was claiming that they were just shot at her by coalition forces. So frogman steps in to show the n00bs at the news agency what the difference between bullets and cartridges is.

Watch… and laugh.

Outsourcing Can Be Unhealthy

Outsourcing can put you out of touch

Turning a blind eye to product quality can be dangerous to your health. In June, the former head of China’s food and drug agency became the ultimate object lesson: Zheng Xiaoyu, who ran the Chinese equivalent of the Food and Drug Administration for seven years, was executed for taking bribes and “dereliction of duty.”
Chinese prosecutors maintained that under his watch a host of people in Panama died from cough medicine laced with toxins of Chinese origin and more than a dozen babies in China perished from milk powder with no nutritional value. His demise is yet another bombshell for global outsourcing.

The risk to Americans doesn’t just come from goods imported here from China. Fifty-six percent of China’s outsourcing came from orders placed by Japanese and Korean firms. Many of these products end up as components or finished goods sold in the states. Read More…

Contemplating Life

I don’t know this guy. He watched us down below as JJ and I were shooting photos of the river. We didn’t really think much of him, but we wondered if he was the reason cops had both ends of the bridge blocked off. JJ and I chatted casually about photography, and how the river is so low this time of year. I’ve never really been to this part of Spokane.

We noticed people were coming down to the area we were at and standing at the base of the bridge, below the man. We gathered the clues, and realized he was a jumper. This was around 8pm. We had just left the northern lights brewery, after enjoying some chicken wings, creme ale and discussion about life and work. When we discovered what this guys intentions were… I had a pretty negative attitude about it. I said, “If he wanted to kill himself, he would have done it already… it’s probably just a cry for help”. 10 o’clock the next morning, I learn that he’s still sitting there. Unbelievable. 3pm, I learned that he did jump.

I felt bad for the attitude I had, but at the same time I can’t help but feel angry and sorry for him. What a selfish thing to do. What a cheap shot to anyone that cares. They say he had mental problems. I wouldn’t know.

I still feel bad. I was both skeptical and cynical toward the guy. But now that it’s done, I can’t say I don’t care.

Apparantly, the police had coaxed him to come down and help him with his problems. As he climbed off the ledge, plain clothed officers shot him with a tazer. Only one prong made contact, and it wasn’t enough to bring him down. He climbed back up and jumped.

Here’s the story as of the time of this post. Read the rest of this entry »
