Gone Shootin’
08.14.2005So after church today, we went out for lunch with the family. Then we stopped off at the local sporting goods to pick up some ammunition. Headed out to Hayden Crick shooting range, and had a good time. Here are the pics.

I went to the gunshow over in Spokane, WA, a couple weeks back. I needed to pick me up some new scope mounts for the AR-15. The ones I had sat just a little too low for comfort, but they were all that the local sporting goods store had available.
So I mosied on over to the gun show. Found me some higher sittin mounts. And I also picked up a nice carry handle for the rifle as well. It’s an A3, or flattop, which means that it does not have the carry handle up top. I figgered it’d be good to have the aperature sights, for when we’re just out blastin stuff, and not actually huntin.
So I install the new mounts on the rifle at home, pack up the rifle and my handy new GPS, and hit the dirt road on the way to the crick. It’s a friday afternoon, bright, warm and clear. A great day to hit the woods for some shooting. I pass a familiar old barn that stands alone in the field by the side of the road.
I turn off the lakeside road, and start headin down the old lumber road, leading to the national forest. These roads go all over these mountains. It’s like a giant maze. with all the twists and turns, one could easily get lost out here. I stop the truck, and turn on the GPS while waiting for it to track the satelites. Ready to navigate. Lets track this road for future reference.
I drive down the winding dirt road for the next two miles. I pull into the dirt quarry, where all the shooting takes place. Pick up the GPS, mark it as a waypoint. And continue down the dirt road. The quarry’s good for blowin stuff up, but it doesnt have enough room to scope a rifle in at 150 yards. I need to find a blocked off straightaway road.
Found it. So I back my rig up to where I want it. Park and drop the tailgate. After stepping out 150 yards, I set up the targets. Open up the rifle case, break out the bipod, have a seat on the tailgate, and lets sight this bad boy in.

05.06.2005We just sailed in last night, and we’re due to fly back to californication soon. I’m on the hotel computer now. This blasted thing is a bit out of date, but at least it connects to ‘teh interweb’.
The bahamas was a blast. And I’ll never go back. Beer averaged 5 greenbacks each. And that was torture. The only thing I could afford was the local bahama beer called Kalik. And that was ten bucks for a six pack. Killin’ me.
I’ll post a few more pics when I get back home, and get the time. But it was a great honeymoon overall.
Hi-Tech Redneck
04.22.2005So my last phone contract expired, and I decided to upgrade things around here.
I got me a fancy camera phone, that has video as well. So you might see a few photos that I’ll snap here and there. Now if only I can figure out how to post pictures directly from the phone. That would be mighty hi-tech.
Here’s another of my folks sideyard this morning.

Gone Shootin
04.10.2005I took my work partner Sean, and his wife Chelsea down to the crick to do some shootin’ today. We had a good time blowin up anything we could find. I posted pics in the photo journal… mostly of them though. I only wish I could have got a picture of their 2 year old daughter, pixie. Cutest little squirt. We coulda taught her how to shoot guns, but she was stayin with gramma. It’s important to raise em right at a young age, you know.

Went down to the creek with Scotty this evening. We have matching Smith & Wesson Sigma 40’s. Well… truthfully, it’s Heath’s 40, but he’s gone, so it’s mine now!

10.23.2004Spent most of last night, and all of today making a big ole dog house for the Marshal and Copper. I have to say I’m mighty proud of it, although I still need to throw the side trim up on it. I just ran short of trim. I’m haulin it home to put it on the porch in a second here. I’ll get some pics and post em shortly.

Couple Autumn Photos

The trees are starting to turn orange and gold, up here in north Idaho. This has to be my all time favorite season. When the white oaks, and the aspen trees turn to gold, and they give such a beautiful contrast against the dark green of the pines. The temperature is perfect, not too hot, not too cold… just right for me. I like the colder weather, where you have to go out in a jacket at night. Thats a picture of my golden retriever pup, marshal dillon. Seems like everytime I pick the marshal up, he’s twice as heavy. He’s a great buddy.
Jared and I cruised around Spirit Lake, lookin at properties. A real nice small town, with a ghost town lookin’ village. Folks are as friendly as they come. I snapped this shot of Spirit Lake when I stopped at the harbor.
